Mani sauc Kristīna Vītoliņa, un esmu Park Ranger Yellowstone National Park. Tas nozīmē, ka man ir daudz un dažādas “cepures”. Es izstudēju National Park Service (NPS) Law Enforcement Training. Es esmu Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician un Structural and Wildland Firefighter. Mana loma parkā ir sargāt parku no cilvēkiem un sargāt cilvēkus no parka. Man ir visādi stāsti un interesanti piedzīvojumi no pēdējiem gadiem strādājot un dzīvojot pasaules pirmajā Nacionālajā Parkā, ar ko es labprāt dalītos. Toties, šis projekts ir lielāks par mani. Mana doma ir izveidot platformu, kur izplatīt interesantas intervijas ar cilvēkiem, kurus esmu satikusi manā dzīves gaitā, informāciju par zaļo dzīvošanu un pārstrādāšanu, un citus rakstus par zemes aizsardzību. Es centīšos atrast Amerikas latviešus, kuri darbojās ar zemes aizsardzību, atjaunojamajo enerģiju, ekoloģiju, utt. Arī plānoju intervēt cilvēkus, kuri nav saistīti ar latviešu sabiedrību, bet ir interesanti, darbīgi cilvēki. Es ceru, ka jums visiem patiksies šis projekts un, ka es varu kaut ko vertīgu piedāvāt. My name is Kristīna Vītoliņa, and I am a Park Ranger in Yellowstone National Park. That means that I wear many many hats to meet the expectations of my job. I went through the Law Enforcement Training Program that the National Park Service puts on, I’m a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician, and I am a Structural and Wildland firefighter. My role in the park is to protect the park from the people and the people from the park. I have many interesting stories from the last few years living and working in the world’s first National Park, and I would be delighted to share those with you, but I want this project to reach further than that. My idea is to build a platform to bring you interesting interviews with people that I have met along the way, information about living green and recycling, and other interesting articles about environmentalism. I hope to find Latvian Americans that work in environmentalism, renewable energy, ecology, etc. I also plan to interview some people that I have worked and trained with that have no ties to the Latvian community, but are interesting and hard working people. I hope that you enjoy this project and that I can bring something valuable into your lives. If you are or know someone that would fit this “green category”, please let me know! Mani sauc Krišs Putniņš, un es esmu Environmental Consultant. Es pārsvarā nodarbojos piesārņotās vietnēs, lai tās kā tās uzlabotu cilvēku, dzīvnieku un dabas veselībai. Es ieguvu Earth and Environmental Sciences bakalaura grādu no University of Illinois – Chicago. Tad es dienēju ASV Armijā trīs gadus. Tagad es dzīvoju Detroitā un strādāju vidienē kā konsultants. Dabas aizsardzības ir plaša nozare. Es nodarbojos ar iepriekš izpostītām vietām, bet dabas konservēšana cenšas saglabāt neizpostīto zemi. Tātad, es varu piedāvāt savādāku perspektīvu. Es ceru, ka kopā ar KBV, mēs varam sadarboties, lai piedāvātu daudzveidīgu informāciju.

My name is Kriss Putnins, and I work as an Environmental Consultant. Basically what that means is that I work on sites with a wide range of chemical contamination, and I work toward remediating any risk to people and the environment. I earned my Bachelor Degree from the University of Illinois – Chicago. After college, I served in the Army for three years, and I now live in Detroit and work as a consultant around the midwest. In general, the environmental industry is diverse and for me, I work in remediating already contaminated land, whereas conservation hopes to preserve already pristine land. So what I have to offer is a different perspective on the importance of environmentalism. I hope that together with KBV, we can work together to offer both sides of the spectrum.
